How we test

Before we recommend anything, we put it through its paces. Here’s our methodology — honest about what we test, how we test it, and what we don’t.

01

Independent testing

Every tool, model and workflow we write about is tested by our editorial team. No PR samples. No vendor walkthroughs. No sponsored reviews dressed as editorial. If we haven’t tested something ourselves, we say so.

02

Real-world conditions

We test in the same environment our readers use: everyday Australian business settings, standard consumer hardware, and free or mid-tier subscription plans. When a paid tier makes a meaningful difference to the experience, we note it clearly.

03

Honest assessment

We don’t use star ratings or scores. We describe what we found — what worked, what didn’t, and who the tool is actually suited to. If something is overhyped, we say that. If it’s genuinely useful for a narrow set of tasks, we say that too.

04

Disclosures

Sponsored content is always clearly labelled and kept separate from editorial coverage. Where affiliate links exist, we disclose them. Commercial relationships never influence what we cover or how we assess it.

05

Corrections and updates

AI products change fast. When something we’ve covered changes materially — pricing, features, quality — we update the coverage, note the revision date, and flag what changed.
